May Day, May Day……………

Wow….
The last two weeks of this month have been something else. I am still in this sort of surreal funk of existence. Once you hear the story you may understand what I mean.

We have been waiting for May to come along for a while now. Sasquatch Festival and 47 bands awaited our presence at The Gorge on the 26th and 27th.  The plan was for a camping trip at Quincy Wild Life Reserve in the RV with Pablo, Jan and my family. We spent a week preparing, buying food and restocking the camping gear. Pablo took the RV and flushed the pipes of the antifreeze and was getting the beast ready for the trip.

Now it gets interesting. Pablo is preparing the RV and filling the water tank. As he is filling the tank he notices some water leaking. With a little more investigation he finds that there is a seal that is spraying. He shuts down the water and goes to take a closer look, and just as he touches the hose that’s leaking it breaks clean off. The seal was ok, but the neck that the hose clamped onto was cracked and broke at just the slightest touch. No one in town was able to come out and fix the hose.

Time for a plan change, now the idea was to still use the RV just have a dry run. Bring lots of bottles of water but not be able to use the RV tank for water or the bathroom. Not that big of a deal. Hell is having a toilet and running water even considered camping? Not a big deal to me, im used to camping and actually roughing it.

So Thursday morning I was on the phone with Pablo, checking the status of the leak. He had to abruptly go because someone was coming up the drive way. 2 hours later I get a call back from Pablo. He has some bad news. His father had passed away.

Wow did that ever rock my world. Charles a great man whom I had come to know so well and enjoyed company with so many times, is no longer with us. I was in shock, as we all knew this was coming but had heard so many times before that he wouldn’t make it much longer, but always did. This time it is real. He is gone.

Ok… sorry I have to stop, but I get choked up and it’s hard to type with eyes full of tears.

As you can imagine, this changed our weekend plans drastically. I will post more about the rest of the weekend and the shows.
