Remembering Gorge 2003.
That was an interesting trip to the Gorge that year…..
As I remember…
I rode my motorcycle out with my oldest daughter on the back and my Brother-In-Law and his woman on his bike. We snagged our campsites at Quincy a day before everyone was arriving.
We got the primo little set of sites!
My wife and youngest were coming out the day of the show.
We took an amazing ride the day of the show down into Yakima valley and along the river. Great time riding with my daughter. She loved the trip as well, was so nice and relaxed she started to doze off on the bike. We headed back to camp at that point… Before we headed into the Cellular hole we were camping in, I called my wife from the main highway.
To my surprise she was still in Spokane…
I’m ask, WHAT!
As it was noon or 1 and the show was at 7, she should have been well on her way out.
Her answer was so out of the blue, I had not expected it.
“Someone busted the window out of the car”
I didn’t believe what I heard.
WHAT?
Evidently she was driving down Ash, someone above the first underpass was throwing rocks over the edge and down onto the traffic.
A rock landed on the back windshield and shattered it.
So she had been stuck in town dealing with the police and all sorts of crap.
I left my oldest with my Phish pals and took off for town to get my wife and youngest, she was too shaken up to drive out.
Boy that was the fastest motorcycle trip from Quincy to Spokane. I drover over 100 the whole time, I remember peaking 120 as I passed the teko turn off. What a blast! Until I realized how much gas I was sucking by driving so fast. Just as a pass the Sprague rest stop my bike starts to sputter and I had to switch to reserve. If im lucky I can get 30 or so miles on reserve… Next gas stop was the four lakes turn off. I almost made it… Bike started to sputter again right before the off ramp and I had to push it across the street to that gas station.
Fun times…
Made it into town in record time atleast.
Borrowed my parent’s car and took my wife and daughter out to the show.
We made it to the show, didn’t have time to go back to the campground, so I missed out on the hand full of Josh’s favorite treats…
We had amazing weekend and 2 awesome Gorge shows.
