One of the craziest trips I have been on to date. And I had multiple firsts over the three days we were gone.
First trip in the 5th Wheel with PB&J
First time at the Whitehorse Amphitheater
First time seeing Gwen Stefani
First time hitting a Deer
That last one on the list totally sucked, I don’t ever want to do that again that for sure!
Sit back while I tell the story of our Weekend from Hell.
We left Spokane about 2pm headed for Kanaskat – Palmer state park. It’s a bit outside of Auburn. All was going fine on the trip. We stopped in Ellensburg for some gas and that’s when things first started to turn bad. We filled the truck and then went to fill the tank on the 5th Wheel for the generator. Filled that tank and noticed something dripping underneath. I climb under there to see that there is a leak in the fill tube, right next to the inlet to the tank, so it’s going to keep leaking until it gets below that intake. Boy oh boy does that suck, but nothing we can do about it now but let it keep leaking. We get back on the road and head for the campground. Continue Reading…
So it’s slow @ work today, I’ll finish up the story now…
Here we are, its 9:30pm on December 14th, which if I had not mentioned before is Stacy’s birthday. So this whole day of driving and now getting stuck on a mountain pass has been her birthday fun. She is a good sport about it, she is just happy we are together and O.K. I walked back from the Patrol car and broke the news to the family, “well looks like we are sleeping in the truck tonight, road is closed in both directions.†Everyone was ok with it, not like there was anything else we could do. Stacy took the kids back inside the restaurant to use the restroom and get ready for the night while I found a spot for the truck.

 So… Where was I?
Oh yeah, we just pulled up to another line and figured we would be here for a little while. We turned up the tunes and chilled. I sat there watched as people got out of their rigs and walk to the front to speak with the Cop. I rolled down the truck window and spoke with a couple as they were walking back. They tell me there are a couple more trees down; they are working to get them moved.

Our trip to the coast turned out to be one hell of an experience. Let me explain.
We left the house about 8:30 and went up to the Rockwood Bakery for some fresh morning pastries to enjoy on the road. We were on the freeway right about 9. First song on the playlist was “Rocketship†by Shiny Toy Guns. What a great song for starting the trip out of town. The drive down to the tri-cities went by quick, but it rained the whole time and once into Kennewick there was fog so thick we could only see about 2 cars in front of us. We made it onto highway 14 just fine; this was a road I had not taken before. I am so used to driving all the way down into Oregon and taking the 84 all the way across the top. This time we took the 14, which follows the river on the Washington side. It cut off a bit of time and the road was clear, not much traffic at all. You could look across the river and see all the traffic was on the 84 in Oregon. Glad we took this route.
